Social Security Administration (SSA) Death Master File (DMF)

DMF means Death Master File provided by Social Security Administration (SSA).

The file is created from internal SSA records of deceased persons possessing social security numbers and whose deaths were reported to the SSA.

This file includes the following information on each decedent, if the data are available to the SSA: social security number, name, date of birth, date of death.

The SSA does not have a death record for all persons; therefore, SSA does not guarantee the veracity of the file. Thus, the absence of a particular person is not proof this person is alive.

FREESSNLOOKUP provide free DMF check by SSN number, you can check if a SSN number is contained in the DMF file or not.

In order to protect privacy DMF file data we checked is before May 2013. If the death is reported after the date, it will not be included in our check results.

We also provide free list for DMF file order by SSN number via DMF List.
